Spain`s Nadal wins 2010 U.S. Open
World No. 1 Rafael Nadal of Spain has won his first ever U.S. Open tennis tournament to become the seventh man in history to complete the career Grand Slam.
In the tough match on Monday, that included a nearly two-hour rain delay, the 24-year-old Spaniard managed to defeat 3rd-seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to grab the third consecutive Grand Slam title this year.
"It is more than I ever dreamed. It is amazing to be here in this final for me. Just to get to the final was amazing, and now to have the trophy, it is unbelievable," the tournament`s official Website quoted Nadal as saying after the game.
To complete the career Grand Slam, a tennis player must win the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
In all, Nadal now has won five Roland Garros titles, two Wimbledon titles, one Australian Open and one U.S. Open.
